Are CDs Rotting Away?
Michele Youket, who works for the Library of Congress, has been doing research on the lifespan of compact discs. They are often touted as indestructible; however, Youket is finding that isn't always the case.

The most frustrating part about this article is the fact that Youket's approach doesn't provide a time estimate of how long a CD will last. It only shows that CDs can and will break down under the right conditions.
