SportsCenter in HD. Wow!
Damn, the in-studio footage and onscreen graphics of the new SportsCenter are unbelievable in HD. Looks like my concerns about the quality of the SD game clips were unfounded. They are pillarboxing the SD stuff and placing HD graphics and sidebars on each side of the screen. Plus, they now show HD highlights of events originally shot in HD.
Every time they come back to the studio after showing SD game highlights, the HD PQ is jarring.
One bummer is that they are now pillarboxing commercials. It used to be that 4:3 SD commercials would stretch to fill the 16:9 screen. Now I get ESPN sidebars during the commercials.
A small price to pay for HD content that I actually want to watch for the content, not just the PQ.
