TV2ME
We've heard for years that eventually TV would be delivered via the internet. I've always seen that as kind of a pipe dream based on our current broadband infrastructure.
However, Ken Schaffer, the guy who invented the wireless microphone, has developed a product, called TV2ME, that allows someone to stream TV content from one PC to another. For example, Schaffer has a home in Moscow and a home in New York. TV2ME allows him to watch live Moscow TV in his New York home. According to Bob Cringley, who demoed the system at Shaeffer's home, the picture quality is very good. He claims that it looks just like "regular" TV. The most amazing part is that TV2ME allows this level of quality over a 384k broadband connection.
This type of technology coupled with wireless display devices (i.e. video iPods) could have people watching live TV programming originating anywhere in the world from anywhere in the world. Really cool!
